I just had my first appt with my midwife at 7w3d and hubby went. We were given the option to do genetic testing between 11 and 13 weeks. It should be covered by insurance. My mom says she did it but that they were "wasting their time" because she'd still want me and my sister no matter what. My BFF who is an L&D; nurse said that it isn't necessary if we will love our baby no matter what and "false positives" can cause unnecessary stress.

The midwife said this would be 1 of 2 ultrasounds before the 20 week anatomy scan. Should I just call my insurance to see what is covered and go from there? Thanks in advance.
