I am almost 8 weeks pregnant. I have one son but I’ve also had a miscarriage and a stillborn. We have decided to wait until the beginning of the second tri to announce our pregnancy- except to our parents. Yesterday my dad asked me why I had not told my step sister and I explained that due to my history, we’ve chose to wait to announce. He told me families don’t keep secrets and that my step mom had told my step sister. I was irritated but said ok and brushed it off. This evening I walked into my dads and my step mom was on the phone with my step brother. She put the phone in my face and said “tell your brother the good news” I pushed the phone down and told her quietly that we were not telling people yet. She replied “well you told all those other people” I told her they were the only people that knew besides my husbands parents and then I left. When I got home I told my husband that I was upset because I feel like that is my news to share and should be my choice who and when I/we tell. He said he understood, but feels like I’m overreacting because it’s my step siblings she’s telling and not just random people like friends.

I’m still suuuuuper irritated but wondering others opinions. Is it wrong for us to not tell “close” family??
