Last night I was talking to friend of mine who is a cop and he mentioned how most of the aggressive of asshole cops were bullied in school and now use their authority to try and heal their childhood scars.

Unless he went to school with them and actually witnessed this bullying it's just a generalisation.

More like they just love to abuse their authority. I see the reasoning your friend used as a way to validate or appropriate the actions of cops who don’t act in line.

Actually, I’ve seen more bully’s become cops than the victims. In all of the 3 high schools I went to all of the biggest male bullies became cops 🤔

I agree, they probably were bullied but that does not justify their behavior, by any means. If you’re still healing from childhood scars then you need to seek therapy. You shouldn’t be a cop at all if you cannot appropriate handle yourself in situations without abusing your power. 
Genuine bullying victims are often sympathetic towards others, those who continue the cycle are just straight out bullies who had a taste of their own medicine.
