Do you absolutely have to have them. Please comment. I refuse to ever have a vag check up and I WILL NOT have kids if i have to get vag check ups.

What? Why not? It’s very important for your health. They aren’t looking at your vagina they are taking cells from your cervix if you are talking about a Pap smear.

They don’t just “inspect your vag” it’s about getting a thorough check - cancer, STI etc. Pretty childish not to want to be educated about your reproductive health. Maybe a good thing not to reproduce

Hi! I’ve read some of the other comments here and you’ve mentioned that vaginal exams/Pap smears/pelvic exams make you nervous because of previous sexual assaults, which is completely understandable. That being said, these check ups are super important for screening for cervical cancer, STI’s and other potential abnormalities. I’m wondering if it might make you feel a little bit better to know what happens in these check ups. First, the nurse will take you back and go over basic health info, and then leave the room and have you take off all of your clothes and put on a gown with the opening in front and they give you a sheet to cover yourself with as well. When the doctor comes in, they’ll typically talk to you about sexual activity, STI risk, pregnancy, and any other concerns you might have. This would be a good time to tell them about your previous sexual assaults so they know 1) there could potentially be some STI/pregnancy risk, and 2) so they know to be mindful of your trauma when doing the exam. When they get to the actual exam, they will have a nurse or a PA come in so that you aren’t alone with them. My doctor usually had a student or PA with him the entire time. They’ll have you lay down and put your legs in stirrups, and then they will lubricate the speculum which will be inserted into your vagina. Then they look at your cervix, and will take a long cotton swab and collect a sample of cells from your cervix. Then they remove the speculum and do a pelvic exam, where they insert their fingers into your vagina and gently press against the walls. Then they’ll press on your abdomen while pressing against the wall of the vagina. Then they open the top part of the gown for the breast exam. After that, it’s done. My doctor tells me everything he’s going to do before he does it, and explains the purpose of each thing he does. 
Now, given your trauma history: you can request a female doctor if you would be more comfortable with that, and you can bring a trusted adult or friend with you as well. If something is making you uncomfortable or scared, you have the right to have your concerns heard. I can understand that the thought of this procedure is scary, and I’m sorry that you’ve gone through so much. Please let me know if you have any other questions! ❤️❤️❤️

this is an honest question, how old are you? it's really not that bad. you should be getting pap smears every 3 years anyway. it's just another part of your body, and the doctors see it every. single. day. don't psych yourself out.

This is kinda dumb. Lol.. it’s something that is important and needs to be done. I’m sure men don’t wanna have a doctors finger up their ass for their prostate to be checked but 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ anyway, you do you I️ guess lmao.
