Homebirth / Waterbirth / 42 wks 3 days
Had our Baby Girl yesterday a.m. I woke up at 3 am when my water broke and told my husband and called the midwife. Labor progressed pretty quickly. DH blew up the birth pool and filled it. Ran back and forth to me as I needed him. I tried laboring in the bed, which was good until the surges got closer together. I really enjoyed being on my hands amd knees, rocking as they got stronger. DH stuck with me and lightly rubbed my back, prayed for me, and supported me when I squatted. I prayed Jesus would give me strengh for one contraction at a time. Got the urge to push and had a couple rounds squatting. I could feel baby's head! We finally got the pool temperature right and I got in the pool. It was great to have the padded floor and edge to lean in. DH encouraged me and did an awesome job! The midwife arrived and 4 minutes later, Baby emerged. DH said she swam out- took a couple strokes with her arms. Anyways, the midwife and I brought her to the surface and I couldn't believe it was over so fast! 5.5 hours! Much faster than my hospital delivery with our firstborn. I started feeding her and bonding. After a bit DH cut the cord. Minimal tearing with the option of sutures that we declined.
