Am I being unreasonable???

our little girl is due on 22nd November (first baby)....it’s my mother-in-laws 60th birthday on Christmas Day and my husband wants us all to rent a house over Christmas together!
I’ve told him I don’t think I would be ready for it but I understand it’s his mums 60th so I would try one night away but in a hotel so we would have our own space.
I love my in-laws, I really do but like any in-laws there’s only so much time you can spend in close company with them!
Also i don’t think my husband fully realises the work involved with a new born.
Am I being unreasonable?

I don't think you're being unreasonable. If it was me I'd feel the same way. My due date was March 28th and everyone kept asking us if we'd be there for Easter. I told them it all depended on how we were feeling at that point whether she had been born yet or even if I was overdue. Luckily though she came the day before Easter so we were still in the hospital.

Yeah no way would I do that. I ended up having our son 11 days after my estimated due date and felt like I got hit by a bus for several weeks after that. I had a wedding two weeks after I had him and there was no way I could’ve made that and it was just one night.

I don’t think you are being unreasonable. Do you have to decide now?? You honestly won’t know until the baby is born. I know people who are out and about a couple days later and I know people that need months to recover. I would just play it by ear.

I wouldn't want to personally. Most people say it takes 3 months to get through the sleep deprivation lmao at just 4-5 weeks after birth, you'll still be healing and getting the hang of a new baby. I told my boyfriend I won't be going to people's houses and they'll need to come to ours if they want to see the baby, because I usually have tough recoveries from anything. And this being my first baby, I have no idea what to expect but I expect I'll heal like I always do, slow and painfully lmao

Sounds completely reasonable to me. It’s not like you just said no to the whole thing. And honestly, I would think everyone else going would appreciate not being woken up in the middle of the night by your crying baby.
