OPKs were starting to get darker near CD 16 but never reached a positive result. Now starting to get lighter again (CD18), did I even ovulate this month or just crappy OPKs giving a false reading and that was my 'peak'?

You try testing 2x a day? My positive was on cd16 but In the morning it was negative then positive around 5pm. You may have just missed the surge on the test is all.

the same happened to me. I took one this morning that was negative, and I took another one at about 2 p.m. It was also negative. Then all the sudden I started to get some light cramping so I took another one at about 6:30, and it is positive!! mine were getting lighter and darker lighter and darker also. Don't worry it's coming!!
