When do you tell people?!

Question

I know 12 weeks is the most popular time to tell everyone your pregnant but what about family? Parents and siblings? How far along were you when you told people? I’m only about 3 and a half! It’s so early and I’ve only just found out but I think I’ll burst if I don’t tell people!!!

We waited until 14 weeks but I honestly wanted to wait longer. I don't want everyone's sympathy and prayers and hugs if something goes wrong. I absolutely dont want anyone asking me how I'm holding up every time they see me.
That's a personal opinion though. I know some people like to have the support but I'd rather grieve with my husband as support instead of having everyone around me.
That's not to say that we aren't excited. We're ECSTATIC and can't wait to hold our babies. It's just a tentative excitement that we wont fully feel comfortable with until they are in our arms.

I didn’t even tell my parents until 13 weeks. I’ve kind of just let them spread the word. The attention makes me really uncomfortable and pregnancy has caused my anxiety to go through the roof, so I’ve just wanted to be left alone and not bombarded with texts and phone calls about it.

I told my parents and hubby’s parents at 4 weeks and everyone else at 8 weeks after first ultrasound

I’ve had three miscarriages & a lot of people told me it’s taboo to tell people before 12 weeks, don’t wanna “jinx” things. Especially given my history I contemplated what to do & who to tell. I agree with the other commenter you tell your support system when you want! Anyone who would be by my side regardless was informed before 12 weeks in my case. And I’m 15 weeks & baby’s doing good, so I didn’t jinx anything! Good luck & Congrats

We told our immediate family at 6 weeks, after our very first doctors appointment. Our first ultrasound was at 8 and a half weeks so it was still risky to tell them early but we are close enough to both sides to share in grief if that were the case. I told my boss at 9 weeks after the ultrasound. Announced at 11 weeks. I’m 21 weeks and doing just fine for now. But I do think we took a risk announcing before 2nd trimester

We told immediate family and close friends pretty much right away, and didn’t have a big ban on them telling people (we aren’t that private and are terrible liars so didn’t see the point in hiding it) . We announced on Facebook after our first ultrasound around 9 weeks.

My litmus test was who would I need to talk to if I experience a loss. I told my brother and best friend right away because I knew I would need their support if I lost the pregnancy. Most people we told at 12 weeks.

with my first pregnancy i miscarried early and got pregnant right away. I told people at 13 weeks for this one. I was terrified of losing the baby early.
