So my boyfriend is Vietnamese and his family speaks Vietnamese heavily in his house. His parents know broken English but his brothers speak both (same as him) He has had a girlfriend before and they didn’t like her. I am worried that they will not like me because they want him to date a Vietnamese woman. Would it be weird to learn Vietnamese in hopes of them liking me a little more? I’ve brought the idea up to my boyfriend and he thinks they would be happy if they know I am trying but he doesn’t know for sure. I don’t want to seem like I am trying too hard to please them.
