When do women normally take maternity leave at any how many weeks?

I went on leave two weeks before my due date and had 18 weeks paid maternity leave from when I gave birth. I live in Australia, I think it’s different everywhere.

If you have been at your job for a year, you should be covered by FMLA to be able to take 12 weeks guaranteeing your job when the 12 weeks is up (however not guaranteeing it will be paid). There is also short term disability some jobs offer if they do not have a maternity policy.

Depends on a lot of things. I have a really physically demanding job and I took off last Monday at 37 weeks, and I’ll be off for (hopefully) 6 weeks after he’s born.

I’ll be working up until I go into labor, unless the dr orders bedrest or something. (And then I would probably be able to work remotely at least part time...) 
I work for a large company and have been there for over a year, so I can take 12 weeks. I want to spend it all with the baby, not waste it waiting for her to come out.

i started my job in January so when hes born i wont be at a year yet to qualify for flma ... but its up to my boss and me how much time i would get off because of that... its all unpaid except for the PTO i will be using.. so im probably only going to be doing the 6 weeks.

I would assume it depends how many weeks you get. I only got 12 weeks so I didn’t start it until the day I went into labor. I didn’t want any of my leave to be wasted without my daughter.

I had to start maternity leave three weeks before the due date and can choose  49weeks with  100% of my normal paycheck or 59weeks with 80% of my normal paycheck.

I started my maternity leave at 34 weeks and i get paid for 18 weeks when bubs arrives but I’m in Australia :)
