Discipline?

Question

When my 15 month old starts to touch or get into something he shouldn’t (for safety reasons), I very sternly say no and immediately remove him from the area. I have also tried swatting his hand away. He starts to laugh and runs away like it’s a game??? And then immediately goes back to it. 
What are you doing that is effectively getting your LO to respond to “no?”

mine has been doing tha same.It was really starting to make me angry and i was afraid that swatting would soon escalate to a wooden spoon or something so i went to talk to a child expert at our local community centre.She really helped me realise that i had to 1.choose my rules that i really care about,that i always want enforced (turns out i was pretty wishy washy according to my moods) 2. inforce them straight away by not telling him multiple times,he is too young for that 3.redirect by engaging him so instead of just moving him and expecting him not to go back,move him then sit and stack cups or flick through a book or something.he soon forgets the naughty/unwanted thing he was doing  4.if 3 doesnt work (which so far its been working) move areas completely e.g change rooms or go outside for a bit. t

Mine is doing the same thing. She even knows when she is doing something she shouldn’t, she looks right at you and make this face like “I’m going to do it, what are you doing to do??”

My son does the same thing, doesn’t matter if I yell no sternly, say it just sternly, remove him from the situation, smack his hand (obviously not hard). He just doesn’t care and will go right back to it. I feel like some days all I do is correct him or be stern  with him and I don’t like that feeling at all. I’ve been trying to put him in his pack and play for timeout with nothing in there. Doesn’t seem to be working either. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Usually we just tell her no sternly or make a certain noise that usually redirects her. If she continues we say no more loudly and do a light pop to the hand. Nothing that would actually hurt her its more of a redirect to get her attention away from the object. It doesnt happen often though usually if we just tell her no she stops but then starts to cry with a lip quiver/pouty face because she is in the stage where she hates being told no. Its like we ruined her life. Then after about 30 seconds to a minute of crying she is off and focused on something else.

When my daughter is opening drawers or cupboards (for example) ... I explain to her to put back whatever she took out and shut the door, then give her huge praise and clapping for good listening. She becomes very proud of herself for doing a good job. Then I redirect with something she CAN do and play with. Works 99% of the time for me. The 1% chance it doesn’t work is most likely due to her being ready for a nap or bedtime and all listening skills are shot lol. 
Try to make it a positive redirect instead of yelling “no”. Explain and give direction so they understand why.

I just say no or make a loud noise and redirect.
