Father in room during delivery?

Question

Would it be weird to ask my dad to be in the room while my son (his first grandson) is born? Just curious!

No it's not weird. When I had my daughter both my parents were in the room. when I got my epidural I wouldn't let go of my dad's hand. it was comforting and really supporting to have my parents there. and when it came time for the actual birth he just stayed around my head.

If you're comfortable with it and so is he then why not? I didn't even want my mom in the room while I was pushing because I didn't want to make her uncomfortable. 😂😂

My dad was in the room during the birth of his first grandson and it was memorable! I had an epidural couldn’t feel anything and my dad was so nervous for me rubbing my leg during contractions! But when it came time for him to be born my dad moved to the top of my head (because dads don’t want to see that stuff) it was an amazing time! My new husband and I are planning to have his mom in the room when I give birth to their first grandchild (boy) and I can’t wait! A birth is meant to be shared but keep it to a very few! Be selective!

I mean I wouldn't want my dad in there looking at my area lol and I think he would feel the same but to each there own.. my dad was just the first one in after clean up

No not at all! Especially if your comfortable. My dad was there with my first and will be with my second. My mum unfortunately missed the birth she was on the flight down. But I was so glad I had someone there who I could trust and he was such a big help. I only wanted him not my husband. Which was a good thing my husband kept fainting. Lol. But also my dad was a ex nurse and had delivered all of his 6 kids. And 2 grandchildren.

It’s really just whatever you feel comfortable with so definitely have him in there if you want to. For me, I know having more people would be more stressful and my husband would be the best at keeping me calm so I didn’t want anyone else but I think it’s very personal decision about what is best for you.

I think it’s whatever your comfortable with and he of course. If you want him in there and he is comfortable with it go for it. If not don’t let anyone pressure you into having people you don’t want in there

Not at all. I had both of my parents in thr room with me. My dad was a wonderful birth coach. When it came time to push i sent him behind the curtain lol. My mom helped me with the pushing part.
