I'm 20 weeks pregnant with my first and have noticed that sometimes my areolas (not the whole thing, just 1cm or so around the nipple) get really hard and quite pale and feel really tight. I've never had this pre-pregnancy, and it's only happened twice so far, once when I was topless, and once when I had no bra on but a jumper on (so perhaps it was rubbing and irritating the nipple?). Is this a normal pregnancy thing, or is it a sign that milk is starting to come in? And am I going to start leaking soon.
