Silly nipple question

Sorry I know this is a silly question! When you breastfeed, does a small hole develop in the middle of your nipple for the milk to come out of? I'm pregnant and want to know how my nipples will physically change. I've read somewhere that they have thousands of microscopic holes, so does that mean the milk just kinda appears on the nipple without an obvious source?
