i am 15 and doing work experiemce at a primary school and yesterday i was working in a Grade 1 class. i have no authority over the students and cannot reprimand them. gor a journal piece i was brainstorming the topic "things that make you mad" with 3 girls. one said "something which makes all 3 of us mad is seeing people of different colours holding hands". thinking "ur too young to be racist i must have the wrong idea" i asked them to elaborate. they gave an example of a vietnamese girl in their year level who was best friends wity a white girl. i am from australia and racism is a big issue but i had never seen it in kids before. so sad.
