CPP- 20 weeks

This could end up being a book but I want to put it all out here to hopefully get some accurate answers!☺️

I had my first child last July and at my 20 week scan with her, I was told I had low-lying placenta. It was .5 cm from my cervix. The doctor told me about it but followed up with “I am not concerned in the slightest as his happens all the time and I believe it will move completely”. Thankfully, it did! My 32 week scan showed it moved and we had a successful vaginal delivery to a healthy baby girl! It honestly wasn’t something we thought much about at all as it was never concerning to anyone. My ultrasound at that time read “low-lying placenta .5 cm from internal cervical os. Grade 1.”

Fast forward to now (yes just a few months later) and I’m pregnant with #2. He was quite the shock!! We went in for our 20 week scan last week and the baby looks healthy but I received a call from the doctor after we left. She was able to look at my ultrasound results and told me I have PP. My ultrasound read “Placenta overlies internal cervixal os. Grade 1”

My OB stated that there were no measurements on my ultrasound results to give exact numbers as to how far things are covered yet she believes we are dealing with a complete previa..... I’m guessing she looked at the ultrasound photos to assume this?? Do OB’s actually look at the photos or just read the results??

I just can’t understand how it says grade 1 yet she believes it to be a complete previa (which isn’t grade 1). Also, she has set up for us to see a high risk doctor this week as she said those are the necessary steps for what she thinks we are dealing with . We LOVE LOVE LOVE our OB. She is SO calm and not an alarmist at all so for these to be the steps she has recommended has me a little more concerned. She did say she wishes she had more answers but this other doctor will be able to give us more descriptive answers.

I guess my questions are:

1) why would ultrasound say grade 1 AND that it overlies the internal cervical os? Isn’t that fact that it overlies automatically make it a higher grade than 1?

2) since that is what it says, what would make my OB think we are looking at a complete previa? (Looking at actual photos??) she thinks strongly enough k send up to high risk doc.

3) has anyone been sent to a high risk doctor only for things to be fine or what was your finding after being sent to high risk after being diagnosed at 20 weeks?

I know most previas correct themselves but just trying to make sense of the info given thus far. I would love pure honesty! Scary or not... I’ve read about everything so I’m prepared for all. Thank you in advance for helping my crazy thoughts!!❤️❤️
