How to make him full?

Question

So my boy is 5 months and we are ebf.
Love love Love Love love breastfeeding.
He has gained so much weight- born in the 10th percentile and we are now up to the 60th.  No concerns about milk production-
Bit.....: he is never wver ever full!
We go about 2 hours maximum but it’s closer to 1.5 hours.  At daycare he gets 4 ounces every 2 hours and he barely makes it to that mark.  
I emailed the doctor about her thoughts but wanted to post here too
Do I just keep sucking it up?  Do I cave and start adding in rice cereal?  Do we start solids half a month early?
It’s been so hard to not be able to go longer than 2 hours.  At night he sleeps all through the night but during the day he’s anhungry little man.  Help!

My daughter ate that often at that age too. I think its just normal.

I started oatmeal and puréed foods with my daughter at 5 months (per pediatrician’s recommendation) and am so glad I did! My daughter started to be in a much better mood and could go longer between feedings.

I think it’s fine to start a few weeks early. Babies develop at different rates sounds like yours is a bit ahead of the curve.

dont do food and rice cereal early, their stomachs arent ready for it. if he is eating til he stops at the breast then he may just have a fast metabolism. do you offer both sides at each feeding? and at daycare ut may be time to up his oz.

He's making up for sleeping through the night, once he is 6 months (or whenever you decide to start solids) he will go longer without eating. 
Babies breastfeed for more than food though - thirst, comfort, etc. As an adult, I don't look at the clock and tell myself I can't drink water because it's only been two hours, so you kinda have to understand a little baby isn't going to have a clock

In case this hasn't been stated...adding solids or cereal doesn't guarantee better sleep. Some kids have a natural clock that wakes them sooner. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I know from experience lol

We started giving avocado, eggs, and peanut butter at 5.5 months. We never gave rice cereal though. If he can sit up well and is interested in your plate I'd discuss starting baby led weaning with your pediatrician.

Breastmilk is made for rapid digestion and efficient use! (Also why some babies only poo once a week!) My 3 month old is also on me 24/7. Breastfeeding is also a comfort thing as well so kiddo might just be comfort nursing as well (super recommended to let them because it keeps supply up)
