Old enough for a tv?

So my son will 5 (turning 6 on the 20th) back a few summers ago for his birthday present at the time I was currently a single mom to all 3 boys. Do you think he’s old enough to handle one? I caught him at 2:00 this morning when I was feeding the baby and heard a noise, so I go in his room and he’s watching tv and figures shows like family guy which isn’t appropriate for his age. His father (my ex) would always watch Shows like that around him and it drove me crazy. He was 2 in 2014 when we divorced due to me finding evidence of him abusing them. He was arrested.
