Good Idea??

Question

Do you guys it’s a bad idea to get a puppy when I’m about to have a baby. Asking for my kids...they want a pet.

Personally I would wait. Puppies are A LOT of work. They have to go out every couple hours while potty training, but inevitably you will have accidents to clean up! And they LOVE to chew. So toys on the floor, shoes, molding, it’s all fair game. 
Don’t get me wrong, I’m pro-pets in the House! And I think getting a puppy with kids is a good idea because they grow up together and love each other. But I couldn’t handle a puppy and a newborn! Maybe your kiddos will be a bigger help?

I would wait. My dog was a puppy when I got pregnant with my son. The adjustment for him was hard & now he has bad behavioral issues. Don’t get me wrong we love him to death but I think puppies/dogs deserve more attention than to be fighting for it with a newborn. I didn’t understand this before the baby because I was a first time mom. Just my experience though every dog is different too.

I would wait a little bit they are a lot of work. We have a 16 yr old dog but my middle child who is 6 wants a puppy (btw he feeds, takes out and takes care of the old dog on his own so he would do the same with a puppy) our youngest is 4 months so my 6 yr old knows once the baby is around a year he will be getting a puppy. He knows it won’t be right this second but he will be getting one

It’s a bad idea. I got a dachshund a week before finding out I was pregnant and it’s been so hard training him and finding time to show him attention. My husband works 14 hour days so I am left alone to take care of our son and the dog.

Bad idea. Speaking as someone who has experience with h babies and puppies I would never purposely have both at the same time. They each demand so much attention, it’s not fair to the dog who will inevitably get the short end of the stick.

Dude I did this when I was carrying my last child and it was a HUGE mistake!!! I don’t know why but a LOT of women for some reason I’ve found want to get puppies when they are pregnant. A new born baby will consume your time completely and trying to deal with kids and then being responsible with a puppy will absolutely be way too much. Just saying from experience!! Wait!!

My parents always got us dogs that we're a year or older growing up. So when I got married and we decided to get a dog, I knew I wanted to get a brand new, cute little puppy. I will never, ever, ever, ever get a puppy again. She is like our child and I love her (she's seven now) but oh my goodness it was a ROUGH first year. Potty training, chewing through EVERYTHING, endless energy, honestly it was like having a destructive newborn that didn't sleep. I would not get a puppy again ever, much less when expecting a baby.

Definitely wait. We got a Great Dane puppy when I was 2 months pregnant. We had no problems training but he’s still very much a puppy and we cannot give him as much attention as I’d like to. He acts out for attention and it’s very hard to control a puppy while you have a newborn in your arms.
