No HCG test?

Question

I went to my primary care office today to confirm I’m pregnant so I can schedule with my OB. My OB is in the same office and the nurse said she would have all my blood work done but she didn’t order the hcg test. I’m so confused as to why they wouldn’t check my count.

you have to do it here. our maternity care is free so you got to prove your pregnant. also if they dont people can fake pregnancies to get medical certs and just be plain crazy lol

My OB doesnt do bloodwork for HCG unless you have a history of miscarriage or some kind of issues going on.

I didn't have one.  I don't think they did them unless you have a history of miscarriages.

Did you ask if you need to get a blood test? I only ever had one - a lot of people seem to get repeat tests to check if their levels are going up but that might just be for people who are having potential issues.

I got mine done, this is my first pregnancy and no history with miscarriages. I would just call and ask.

They never tested mine. But my doctor doesn’t see uncomplicated patients until 9 weeks, so we saw the baby on ultrasound at our first visit.
