Bleeding gums and flossing - how important is flossing?

RyRy

Does anyone practice good oral hygiene (brush twice daily and floss) and still have bleeding gums?

Every time I go to the dentist and they floss me, they tell me that if I did it more myself my gums wouldn’t bleed.

I will be honest and admit I am lax on it anymore, but that is only bc even when I was doing it regularly my gums still always bled and were sensitive. I now have an electric toothbrush and I make sure to brush my gums very good as well but no flossing. I feel like I’m doing pretty good but I’m always paranoid about my dentist reprimanding me for not flossing.

Does anyone else have this issue and do you still floss? How important is flossing really? Is it really bad that my gums always do that? Am I fine not flossing since I have an overall good oral hygiene routine?

I would also like to note they have checked me for gingivitis in the past and I do not have it, my gums just bleed.
