A little bit of backstory here: I’ve always been interested in tattoos since I was a little kid and growing up being a tattoo artist was always something I was drawn to; but my dreams were always shot down by my family. I was always told that it was impractical and that they wouldn’t support my decision if I ever pursued it. So I continued making art and accepted that I’d just be stuck as a high school art teacher or cosmetologist. (Not that there’s anything wrong with those fields it’s just nothing I’ve ever felt drawn to) Well now I’m 20 and getting my first tattoo soon and it’s reopened this whole can of worms.

I wanted to post this to ask any artists here, where do I start??

I haven’t built any contacts over the years that could possibly help me, I just don’t know where to begin! I know i should have a portfolio (which I already do but it’s everything I put together for a fine arts degree and I don’t see that helping here rip) but I don’t know what it should include or what to even do after I’ve made one?? Obviously this is something I’d have to learn and do all on my own I’m just hoping for some advice 💀
