Baby daddy help

I’m pregnant and me and the dad broke up I have a new man who is happy with the pregnancy and says he will be there for me and be there for the baby but the baby dad wants to be in the kids life I don’t want to keep him from his kid but I’m afraid to let him cause he drinks heavily and does drugs he said he stopped but I don’t trust him I don’t know what to do help?
