Should kids have to say trick or treat before the go trick or treating?

Auburn

So, I’ve never posted a topic on here, and I feel like we’ve had some “too serious debates” that get really heated, with hurt feelings, and thought this one would be fun!

Halloween is slowly approaching, and for those who celebrate, know the common phrase “trick or treat” My dad always told me, that if they can’t say it, they’re too young! So what are your thoughts? Do you think the child should have to miss out on celebrating, just because they can’t or are to shy to say “trick or treat”.

I personally think it’s absurd, and I’ll definitely enjoy dressing my little girl up, and taking her out.
