Progesterone following iui?

How does your doctor determine if you need to take progesterone following your iui? My doc has never mentioned it, but I’ve seen tons of posts where women have mentioned being prescribed progesterone after iui. I have never been pregnant, but I’m going on my 3rd iui and wondering how/if progesterone helps?

I was put in them even though my lining was fine and my progesterone level was fine.

Do you get a blood tests 7dpo? That’s when my doctor checked mines and if the numbers don’t look the way they want them to they put you on them. What medicine do you take?
