Breast feeding???

Question

Can i have tobacco every once in a while while breast feeding? 
Please no rude comments.. 😩
This is my second baby due next month. 
I’ve never breast fed before.
I’m asking because I have heard drinking wine is fine, I think hours before you start to pump. Because then it wouldn’t be in the breast milk

I don’t think it has any effect on breastfeeding but be aware carbon monoxide fumes will cling to your clothing and skin for a good hour after smoking. You mustn’t bed share and you should change your clothes brush your teeth and wash your hands as a minimum before holding the baby - seems like a lot of bother for a couple of cigarettes !

No.  You should try to be strong and give it up while breastfeeding for your baby’s (and your) health

I’d ask your doctor their opinion or your child’s pediatrician. As a non-smoker I’m not sure of any possible effects etc. I know during my prenatal classes at the hospital they said a single serving of alcohol (not a “college pour”) is ok while breastfeeding without having to “pump and dump” but recommended to do as close to the previous feeding as possible, so it’ll be as long as possible before the next.

I've always heard you have to pump and dump if you want to drink alcohol. My best guess is it's probably the same with tobacco. But your Dr would be able to tell you for sure

Yes you can smoke and still breastfeed, it’s recommended that if you do, do it right after nursing and then wait 2 hours but honestly even if you can’t wait that long it’s so much better to breastfeed your baby if you smoke than formula because the pros outweigh the cons. Occasional marijuana and alcohol use is also okay with a mandatory wait time of 2 hours for alcohol unless you pumping and dumping and with marijuana I was told once you stop feeling the effects or at least 2 hours.
