Hand me down clothing....

Ok so just a little vent session here. As much as I would love to keep accepting hand me downs from people, I’m getting really tired of people offering to just give them to me (and saying things like “oh I have all of these boy clothes I want to get rid of! If you want them, they’re yours!) and then coming back and asking me to pay for them.... PLUS it’s not like I get to pick what you’re giving me, you’re just giving a bag of stuff that I may or may not like and then just expecting me to pay for it.. I’m not trying to sound ungrateful as I’m obviously getting them at a cheaper price than buying them brand new, but I’m almost to the point where I’m tired of paying for things that I might not even use...

Anyone else had the problem?? What do you say to these people? Especially because there is one person in particular that keeps just dropping stuff off without me asking for it and still expecting money because they don’t currently have a job.... like I didn’t ask for these clothes..you’re just giving them to me..

Or how do you bring up the topic of more of less asking are you giving these to me for free or are you expecting me to pay? And saying “ well I’ll take them if they’re free but if you’re going to make me pay for them I’d rather go through and pick things out myself”

And to add to this, this is my first child so I’m also kind of wanting to pick out his clothes from the store so they have some meaning to them if that makes sense...
