IUI or IVF?

Hello!! Doctor said today we could try IUI or go straight to IVF ...DH has 4% morphology and my egg reserve was on the lower side. I’m 24 and DH is 31. What do you think? Any experience?

Also you are sooooo young. I would definitely give IUI a shot first. You aren’t on this extreme time crunch like I am. I’m 40.

My husband also has 4% morphology which my doc said is “borderline.” Other numbers were good. It seems like morphology issues are common. My doc said at 4% it will not effect natural conception or IUI, but could effect IVF. Instead of just allowing sperm to fertilize the egg on their own, they would select a single “normal” shaped sperm and fertilize the egg that way. I have not done IVF so I’m not sure of the term. But I’m sure it’s an add on that costs more money!

I’m in almost the same boat! Husband has 3% morphology. We are currently in the middle of our first medicated IUI. Our RE said it can happen, and since we get insurance coverage for IUI, we wanted to try it first before spending $20k+ on IVF.

Are his counts normal?  4% is actually completely normal morphology.  I don’t understand why ant RE would sat otherwise.  And morphology has shown on all studies not  to affect fertility.  It’s motility and count that do.  How low is your AMH?  I would try IUI first.

Hey Ladies,
Just a quick update - we decided to try a couple of IUI’s before moving to IVF.
We went to sign forms on Wednesday (August 1st) and had a final blood test. I was given my medication and told to ring up on CD 1. They’ll get me in between CD 3 and 5 to teach me how to do the injections and do an initial scan! (That should be Wednesday-Friday this week!!!) 
We were told our chances of conceiving with IUI are 15% so I’m not getting my hopes up too much, but excited to start!

I would give iui a shot first. My husband had a similar analysis. 
I have a super busy job so I only did one iui and then moved on to ivf (Also live over an hour away from the Clinic). 
I would have tried 3 iui and then ivf but I jumped directly to ivf after one failed iui because of how busy I am (it has lower chances). I failed my ivf as well though and on my second one now.
I also may have other female egg issues but not quite sure so that plays a role.

We did 3 IUI’s on top of other meds it was expensive. About $5k (I include all the ovulation kits and pregnancy tests too). Not pregnant now doing IVF which will be about $25k for first round implant, meds, and PGS testing. I would say maybe an IUI then IVF. You aren’t on a time crunch with your ages, but it sounds like you want a baby now 👶 💓
