So irritated
I started working at a probation office May 30. I, along with most of the others hired, have never worked in probation. My supervisor didn’t have us shadowing anyone, and just had us doing very basic things the first month. Basically BSing. We moved into our office July 1, and started getting probationers last Monday. There was a computer lab available to us in June and at the beginning of the month. My supervisor never logged into our computer system in the lab and showed us how to fill out the 5 million forms, petitions, warrants, etc that we have to do. It’s kind of a “if this ....., then this....” type thing when it comes to the forms and there’s mathematical calculations involved with some.
She also never sat in our first meetings with probationers like she said she was going to. She literally just threw us out there. She sent us a list of names a few days ago that said “some of these may have been to court.” What she didn’t tell us was that we were supposed to check for new charges, write up warrants if it was a new charge and/or VOP, etc. How are we supposed to know that? She didn’t give us a manual to go by.
To top it off, I’m 35w3d pregnant and will be on maternity leave 8 weeks. So if I don’t understand it now, I’ll be behind when I get back. Others are struggling too. It’s literally sink or swim. I don’t know what to do. When I try asking her something, she’s usually on the phone.
