Work harassment?
I need your opinions!
I work at a debt collection agency, so we sit at a desk & talk on the phone & on computers ALL DAY LONG. I have really really really bad morning sickness, like I throw up in my car on the way to work type of stuff. So I find myself calling out of work a little more frequently because I have hyperemesis. Being pregnant & having hyperemesis is like a no + no = in bed all day.
So I called out of work Monday & Tuesday, went back to work today & my supervisor, manager, & assistant manager calls me in the office to have a little talk. I get in there & they tell me
“We added up the # of hours you’ve missed from work from April to now & we want to know is it because of your pregnancy? Bc it’s a lot of hours.” I reply w “yeah it’s my pregnancy, it’s pretty rough being sick 24/7 throwing up in the car, on myself, in bed, at home, in public, etc.” they said “ok, well we think you should talk to your doctor about going on leave early then because the way that things are going now it can lead to termination.” So I’m like “???? Uh ok. I’ll talk to my dr about it then.” They said “we also wanted you to sign an agreement w us saying that you won’t miss work due to pregnancy related things, including being sick, and if you do it can lead to termination.”
They then gave me 15 days to see my dr so that I can discuss leave w her.
IS IT ME OR DOES THIS SOUND COMPLETELY WRONG??? MIND YOU, I spoke w them earlier asking if I can cut back my hours bc I think it would be an easier commitment for me to fulfill. They flat out said “NO”
Now, I know it’s hard to get off of work early so I’m nervous to speak w the dr bc I would honestly much rather go on leave now bc fuck that company! So I’m trying to get my words together so that I can ensure I get put on it!
