When/if your partner proposes...

So this has come up basically because when my now-husband proposed, he did it completely out of the blue so I wasn’t expecting it at all. I’d always had in mind the style of ring I wanted (like most people I think) but when it actually came to him proposing, I was so happy that I didn’t even think about what style it was, I just wore it with pride.

For the purposes of this poll it’s important to note that my ring is the complete opposite of what I would’ve chosen, however because it reminds me of him and that day, I love it more than anything else I’ve ever been given.

When I showed it to my friend she was obviously excited I was engaged but was like “oh it’s not what you wanted” and I was like “it is! It’s perfect because he chose it” and she was like “nah I’m too picky, I’d have to show him what I wanted beforehand and if it was wrong I’d want to exchange it”

So my question really is, which side do you side with?

1) I’m gonna wear it for the rest of my life (hopefully!) so I should get to choose what t is, or

2) this person just asked me to be with them forever, I couldn’t give a damn what it looks like, the sentiment means more.
