How does induction work??

Hey y’all so I’ll be 38 w on Tomorrow. I was at risk for preterm labor at 29w but I pulled through up until this point! I’m only 1 cm for the last 2 weeks with a now more softened cervix and my doctor says if I make it to my due date she might have to induce me. This is my first so iv never gone through labor at all before and would just like to know what they do to induce you and how it feels ????

I had to be induced at 37 weeks because I had preeclampsia. I went into the hospital and the put a pill in my cervix every 3 hours to help me dilate, and they were going to start pitocin, but I didn’t need it. Then after I got my epidural, my OB came in and broke my water, and I had my baby boy 3 hours later! It’s an amazing experience, but it can be a waiting game. Good luck to you!! ❤️

I agree about not being induced unless it's medically necessary. It was not a good experience for me and I wish I would have just waited on him to come on his own. I went in at 7pm they inserted cervidil and then took it out at 7am. I started having contractions around 3am. I ended up not needing pitocin until I started pushing 28 hours later. I then pushed for 4 hours. Mind you I had not progressed any on my own before I went in for induction. I wasn't dilated at all. I was 39w2d when I went in for induction.

I would avoid induction unless medically necessary. It was what ultimately led to my c section since I didn’t progress like they’d hope when really baby was just not ready to be born. There was no reason to induce I was just young and didn’t research anything.
