When do you tell your family you’re pregnant?

I just found out I was pregnant on Monday. I’m only 4 weeks. I have told my mom and plan to send my sister a little package this weekend. There is no way I can keep it from them. But how early should I tell my husband’s family?

I really wanted to tell my mom right away but I’m so glad that I didn’t, I found out I was pregnant at five weeks and lost the baby at 7 1/2. I don’t want to scare you at all but people feel differently about this. I was really happy that I had not told my family, it would have been significantly worse on me to have to go through that process with my family involved. Some people want that family support early in pregnancy, so just something to think about. Most of all congratulations!!

We told our parents this week, about two weeks after finding out (I'm 6 weeks pregnant) and I've told my best friend. For us, these are the people we want to know, no matter what happens.
We will wait to tell everyone else until after our 12 week appointment and results. And I probably won't post anything on social media until closer to 16 weeks. Just our personal preference, I think you do what feels right for you. ❤️

To be honest it’s definitely up to you. I couldnt contain my excitement and told everyone about 5 days after I found out. Im currently 19w6d and luckily baby is doing fine. Most women wait until 12 wks because the chance of miscarriage is greatly reduced. Good luck

With my first pregnancy we told my parents at 4 weeks, my in laws at 6wks, & our grandparents/aunts/cousins/ etc throughout my first trimester as the opportunity presented itself. 
I’m 11 weeks with our second and told my parents at 6wks, and my grandparents/one set of aunts/uncles/cousins at 8 weeks because we were visiting. We still haven’t told anyone in my husbands family or my other set of aunts/uncles/cousins. We will within the next 3 weeks as we plan to announce publicly at 14 weeks. Life has just been really busy for everyone and we prefer to tell people who matter (like family and close friends) in person if we can.

I told my mom first then she wanted to tell my sister. I told my dad on Father’s Day after we had an early ultrasound (6 weeks). I wanted to wait until after 12 weeks to tell everyone else (hubby’s fam, friends, etc.) but it’s my second and I started showing so early! Doesn’t help that it’s summer and most of my clothes are tight (1st pregnancy happened in Sept so I could hide it with fall clothes/sweaters for sooo long!)
Do what feels right to you. If you would want support from family during a miscarriage then tell them when you feel ready.

I told everybody (mom, dad, in-laws, co workers) as soon as the stick said yes. I am not one who can keep that news quiet for long. this is how i did all 4 pregnancies even after the 3rd pregnancyended in miscarriage. I don't regret saying anything sooner because when I did lose my 3rd my family and co workers new and were very supportive though it. it really just depends on what type of relationship you have with them.

He wanted to tell his family. How could I not let him? Sadly, I miscarried my first. But it was nice to have the support from his family. The second pregnancy, I still told them at 5 weeks. They were elated. 32 weeks now. But it’s personal preference really. Good luck to you 💕

I told my family right away the first time and lost the pregnancy. Then the second I waited until after the ultrasound which I got early because I ovulated so late. Sadly I also lost that pregnancy. So the next time I plan on waiting a while. I'll try to hide from his family as long as possible but we see them so often I'm not sure how easy it'll be.

I told my mom and sister today (7 weeks).  We have our first ultrasound tomorrow and will tell the in laws after. I want to wait, but we will be staying with the husband's family in a few weeks and I don't want to deal with trying to hide it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I just found out on Friday! I also told my mom and my sisters but nobody else knows yet. I’m about 2.5 weeks. We plan to surprise the rest of my family and his family next week.
