putting on a cartilage piercing

I have three cartilage piercings and this is the first I've ever had a problem putting on the 'bead'

Usually the bead is round but this one is a bit long and round which makes it difficult to put in because the hoop doesn't open up but can be twisted a little bit. When it's not in my ear its kind of easy to put the bead in when twisted

anyone have any ideas what I should do or should I just buy a new one?
