Okay so I’m in a monogamous relationship and have been for over a year. Prior to this I was assaulted and that was my only other experience, and my partner has only ever been with me. I had std screening at the start of the relationship which came back clear. My question is, should I be getting std testing annually? I am sexually active but only with one person and have a clean bill of sexual health. I am only 18 so I do not yet go for smears. Unlike in the US the UK does not do annual exams so the only time I would have std screening is when I go and request it myself. Do I need to be tested annually for STDs in a monogamous relationship and no prior infections? I know hpv for example can lay dormant for years and I’m not entirely sure if I need testing or not as I’ve never been educated on it
