Do you do baby led weaning?

Currently I am making all my son’s food, purée style. But curious about BLW. I’m terrified to give him food that we eat. I’m worried he will choke. How do you mamas do it without freaking out?!?

By knowing the difference in gagging and choking.
Getting certified in Infant CPR/First aid helps as well. 
Starting with super mushy things before working up to hard things. Thing avocado and banana before strawberries and apple.
If you can squish it between your finger baby can smash it with their gums.

both. we did purees and she has always eaten whatever was on my plate that was appropriate.

I waited until he was 8 months and started offering bits of what we were eating with his homemade purees. He did great. I wasn’t comfortable doing it younger than that and he has bad reflux so just letting him whatever we do isn’t always good and I wasn’t making two meals. Pizza, processed noodles, etc are too much carbs for me to give someone so little. Even now, he doesn’t get whatever we are eating all the time. Do what’s best for your family and beliefs.

Serve food the same way you would eat it. Baby isn’t learning how to chew if you just give them nothing but soft food. You just have to trust that your child will be okay. My sons first meal was pot roast since that’s what we were having. And then next day was grilled chicken and zucchini and rice. He has gagged but never choked. I joined Facebook grounds for baby led weaning for beginners and that helped a lot. I suggest you join one of those if you are interested. They will help you more than anyone else.

Our daughter is nine months and her primary nutrition is still breast milk, but she really love solids so she's eating more and more. We started off doing homemade purees. We have the Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker. Lately, my husband and I have been giving her small chunks of whatever we eat. She sits down to have dinner with us and she seems to really like the food. We eat very healthy and do not use unhealthy seasonings or anything so we feel safe with her eating what we eat. We make sure it's cut in really small chunks and is very easy to mush. We mainly use the food maker just for her fruits, which are her snacks now. We still puree veggies from time to time just in case she doesn't want what we're eating, which is rare. We're still trying to figure out breakfast for her. Usually, I just give her oatmeal with breastmilk because most of the time, that's what I'm having as well (minus the breast milk haha).

We steamed everything and cut it up in small pieces...only big enough for her to pick up btw her fingers. It was still intact but if you put even the slightest pressure on it, it would mush. So I knew it was ok for her to eat. She gagged a couple times but that’s it. We started that at around 8 months. She prefers to feed herself. Now shes really got the hang of it and has a great appetite. But it didn’t start that way. Now we are starting to feed her what we eat. I make sure there’s not a lot of seasoning on hers and it’s not spicy. Good luck and be patient.

No I can't,  baby chokes (like infant CPR chokes). We're waiting until he learns how to better find food in his mouth.
