Inductions

La

36w1d and found out at my appointment today I’ll be induced at 39 weeks if baby boy does not come before then. This is the first I’ve heard of it so it shocked me. I have mixed feelings about it. I have white coat syndrome, so my BP is usually high at the doctor. At home, it’s always around 108/65, so I know it’s normal. I’ve told them that. Today it was only 116/65 and the last time I was there it was 120/70. At my epidural consult two weeks ago it was 115/60. I don’t feel my BP is an issue, which is the reason they want to induce. I don’t want to go until 40 or 41 weeks but I don’t want to force it, either.

I forgot to ask questions since I was so shocked. Do they typically give you a day, or let you choose it? Do you get to choose your doctor? Does it go slower than natural birth? Harder on baby?

I’m hoping he comes on his own before then but I’m 36w1d and not dilated at all 🙁
