vbacs????

has anyone had one? and if so how was it???.. im looking for a place in California!.. I had a csection in 2013... my daughter was too big and stuck.. but other then that no health or dialationg problems.. just a big baby.. please help!!!

Okay - I am getting a repeat csection for #2, BUT, I WAS cleared and given the option for a VBAC.
 
Here is what I had to consider.
 
My first was a csection after over 36 hours of active labor (I was induced and only hit 4cm), but my son ended up being a huge baby (10lb and 21 inches).  A vaginal birth either never would have happened or it would have torn me pretty badly.
 
I am pregnant with #2 (only 20 months apart... so conceived this one when 10 months pp), and while my OB cleared me for a VBAC IF I wanted to try, there were some issues...
 
A. The probability of my second baby being a good amount smaller is very slim (do not trust those us guesses either!  They had my son as almost 9lb by US measurements - oops!).
 
B. I would quite possibly have to be induced AGAIN.  This did NOT go well for me the first time around.
 
C. When you labor unsuccessfully and THEN get a csection, the recovery is harder and longer for mom.  There is also a higher chance of complications for both mom and baby.
 
D. Timing... my son will be under 2 when my due date hits.  Having a VBAC also means a 4 week variable in regards to labor, and also means I would need someone to constantly be on call to watch my son during that period.  As I do NOT have such a person, and I do not want to rely on near a week being in the hospital again (almost 3 days in labor and recovery room after csection), a csection fit better for our family.
 
And if I am not wrong, you need a DOCTOR who will clear you for a VBAC, not a “place”.  I would recommend talking with your OB about your current pregnancy and your desire for a VBAC.  They can help you weigh YOUR options based on your health, history, and current pregnancy.

I live in California and they wouldn't let me even try. I was told that most hospitals don't want the liability.

I’d check out iCAN and other VBAC support groups! Data shows VBACS are less risky than a repeat cesarean. Keep looking until your find a supportive provider (that is NOT a doctor that will require induction (which makes NO sense) or you have to birth in the OR, will only “let” you go to X weeks etc).
