Why giving middle names?

In my country there is no such thing... So I am curious to know why.

Because there are ten thousand John Smiths in US history 😂 Middle names help to distinguish which person you are talking about if there are multiples with the same exact first and last name.

In the US, basically every document has a section for first, middle, and last name. A lot of names here are overused too, John, Michael, Lucas, Aiden, helps to have a middle name to distinguish them. It was also customary for a long time for the mother to give her maiden name to her child when she got married. In my family, we give kids middle names of respected elders. I think I was the only one that was just named a random middle name.

It is tradition for a lot of people, including myself,  but I also don’t understand how anyone could choose just one name for their kiddos?? There are so many great names out there, why choose just one?! I love so many names that I put just as much thought into my kiddos’ middle names, as I do their first names. Their middle names are just as important to us, and we use their middle names every single day.
