My husband and I had a discussion about the possibility of having a baby when I wanted to go off hormonal birth control because every option made me sick. My husband said that he understood and respected my decision so we started using fertility awareness by symptom tracking on a calendar. LOL, we eventually gave up because we each lack self-control in regards to abstaining during ovulation. We had a discussion about throwing away the calendar and the increased possibility of having a baby. Together we agreed that if God blesses us with a child then He knows we are ready for the responsibilities better than we think we’re ready. I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with our first and it’s been over a year since we threw away the tracking calendar. For me and my husband, we believe that God knows what’s best for us and our situation. If you can have a mature conversation about having children with your spouse, and you are both in agreement about the decision to passively TTC (just let it happen if it’s going to happen) or to actively TTC (both are on vitamins and use fertility awareness to have sex during ovulation) or to adopt, then I’m quite sure you are ready. I pray that God blesses your conversation and decision!!
