I was having brunch with my close work colleagues yesterday. We were only allowed the brunch table for a short, set time and as this gang is known for being late, I told them all the time was half hour earlier than it actually was.

One of them was coming with his wife and his gorgeous 2 month old baby.

However, a couple of them arrived ‘on time’, i.e.: the fake time I gave. Including my friend with the baby.

He sent a message to the WhatsApp group asking where everyone was. A couple of them as predicted were ‘running late’ in accordance to the fake time, so I messaged back the group saying that the real time was 1pm.

My friend with the baby was very annoyed, saying he really could have used that extra half hour with the baby. I apologized and assured him that I asked the restaurant to make sure the table was ready for anyone who arrived the half hour early but he said that it wasn’t the point, that the baby could have slept a little longer, etc. I apologized again but when I arrived he was still very annoyed.

I didn’t think it was too big a deal, but I can’t stop thinking about it now.
