My first pregnancy. My water broke and I only ever felt period cramps. Even active labor at the hospital my contractions always felt like period cramps. I got my epidural pretty early so they never got crazy painful. I don’t know what to expect this time. But I’ve been getting period cramps last night and today. I’m only 36+5

For me it started to feel like menstrual cramps where I really wanted an Ibprofen.  Then it intensified to a point where I could not tolerate or talk.

menstrual cramps ARE a form of contractions! Many moms feel that way in early labor, much like a period. The difference is they will come and go steadily and get stronger with time
