Home Schooling, Pros & Cons. Would you do it?

I don’t want my child in the public school system because I feel it is more of a hinderance than not, as I came from it. Luckily I made the most of the limited resources, but I’ll have my child in either a private system that caters to their intellectual abilities as well as extracurricular, or I will homeschool to achieve the same.

My Aunt owns an online school based out of California that I'm thinking I want to put my kids in. I just dont like some of the controversial subjects that some public schools are willing to teach at young ages lately. My husband is worried about them not getting enough age appropriate interactions with other children, but if they're put into sports or other extracurriculars I dont see that being an issue.

The schools in my town are getting shooting threats and bomb threats once a month at LEAST and they constantly have to shut the schools down for multiple days for it. More than once they found the students or random adults responsible and they weapons and plans. One school nearby had a deadly school shooting too. I’m considering home schooling until it’s safer. Hopefully by the time my kids are old enough to start, things will change.

Honestly, does public school scare me? Yes....but I would really like to give my daughter the opportunity to go and make it a positive experience. If bullying or another serious issue occurred, we would re-evaluate the situation. There are pros and cons to public, private or home school. All you can do is make an informed decision that will best benefit your child.
