Do u think 16 is too young for a tattoo?

So I recently went to Hawaii w/ my best friend’s family & mine where there’s no apparent legal tattoo age & I was so excited because my parents said that we should all get matching tattoos & they seemed 50% serious & 50% joking. We didn’t actually end up getting tattoos but I know exactly what I want & I even had the concept I had been thinking about for years designed by an artist! Idk if 16 is young enough to regret getting something permanently put on ur body when ur just a kid, or if 16 is old enough to make big decisions & decide what u want for urself. Help please!

There were SO many tattoos I wanted when I was sixteen. I’m glad my parents wouldn’t let me get them, though, because I don’t have any of them as an adult. I would have regretted every single one of them.

I think it depends on the person. I got two when I was 16 and I plan on getting one reworked into something a bit different but I wouldn’t change the other for the world. My personal opinion if you wanna start that young get something meaningful so that you don’t regret it later in life. Like I wouldnt get a random giraffe or something funny or crazy but something that means something to you.

put the picture of the tattoo you want on the ceiling on top of your bed or near your bed so that you see it at least twice a day. if you still love it after 8 months, go for it

I had my first tattoo done at 16 by a friend Home tattoo artist. It is a bible quote I’ve always wanted and my late great grandfather used to tell me when I got scared. (“I will fear no evil for thou art with me”) It is my personal reminder to not fear anything life may face me with- God is always with me and he is always for me. I think it all depends on the purpose and reasoning in the tattoo you want and the maturity of the person. 🤷🏽‍♀️

1st on is a dove (that what my name means)
2nd my sons zodiac 
I don't regret either one, but they were also things I wasn't going to outgrow & I got them professionally done.

Well, I mean, 16 is definitely not old enough to make big, permanent decisions, but idk, a tattoo is not necessarily a huge decision, depending on where it is. It is pretty permanent though, obviously! Basically, I think there is a gigantic chance you will one day wish you didn’t have whatever tattoo you are considering, but I also don’t think it is some horrible, life-shattering thing to have a tattoo you don’t want. I’d never let you do it if you were my child, and I’d certainly advise you to wait, but out of all the stupid decisions you could make as a teen, getting a tattoo would be only medium-level stupid, imho.

Definitely. I love tattoos and have three myself but I would never advise anyone under 18 to get one. It’s worth the wait. Tattoos are permanent and not a commitment you’d want to rush into. I’m a different person at 20 than I was at 16. I got my first at 18, second at 19, and third at 20.
