25 week birth story
My unexpected delivery of my beautiful daughter Annalise, I went into my obgyn Tuesday had a swab due to irregular discharge. I was diagnosed with Bacterial vaginosis (BV). Started mild cramping which was expected after a swab and it proceeded to get worse Friday I went into the hospital because that morning I lost a palm sized amount of white mucusy discharge (was my mucus plug) and was told it was probably just my BV, they didnt check me or anything even with how bad I was cramping, they just said if I start spotting come back in otherwise follow up with my OGBYN Monday. Woke up this morning barely NO cramps no more pain wiped and was spotting red blood so I went back in, they checked me and I was 6cm dialated, they started taking action within an hour I was 8cm dialated I was admitted and put on magnesium and fluids and antibiotics, the rolled me over and gave me a shot to help my daughters lungs they had me tilted back in the bed so far all the blood was going to my head they drew blood and ran all sorts of test. I was told they didn’t know why I was going into labor. But at 8cm there was no way I wasn’t delivering today. They called a NICU unit over from the best hospital and they arrived within and hour. The magnesium stopped my contractions, the kept my drip for her neural development to progress quicker. After trying to let me progress naturally even with the magnesium they gave me Pitocin and broke my water. Trying to induce labor while we still had the NICU team available I was unable to be transferred and we didn’t know how long NOCH would be able to be here. Within an hour it was time for sure. I couldn’t get pain medication it had to be all natural. Half way through the birth canal my daughter outstretched her neck and was looking at the doctor. I had to have her hand and part of her arm inside of me along with my daughter to try to reposition her head correctly which did not want to happen, but it did. And one last LONG push after that she was out and whisked away. As they were taking her they said she was looking at them and trying to breathe on her on. My labor had been going on for days without notice, my active labor lasted 30 minutes and she was out within thirteen pushes. She’s been doing well and above their expectations thus far she’s been sent to the children’s hospital and I won’t be discharged till tomorrow morning. Please pray y’all and thank you for reading my birth story.
UPDATE- thank you everybody for your prayers, We found out that she breathed her self the whole 1 hour and 20 minute ride to the hospital, because they misplaced her breathing tube. she’s been doing great she just turned a week old yesterday. Within 26 hours they switched her from a breathing tube to a c pap machine. But she wore herself out and got put on a high pressure ventilator and breathing tube. She had high blood sugar which was finally fixed she just had to much sugar in her nutrient bag. She just got a IV in her head this morning for a blood transfusion but she’s doing great and gaining weight. I’ll keep y’all updated as things progress more. We’ve got a whole 3 months in the NICU. :)
