He stood me up on my birthday

My on/off boyfriend and I just recently rekindled things after briefly cutting off contact for a week. He told me how much he missed me and cared about me. How much I meant to him. How special I am and how he learned his lesson. My birthday was coming up that weekend and he promised to plan a night for us together, to make the whole day whatever I wanted. I looked forward to it all week. But when my birthday came, he didn’t answer his texts. Then I saw he was at his lake almost 2 hours away with all his buddies. He completely stood me up and I spent most of my birthday crying. My parents took me out for an expensive birthday dinner and I couldn’t eat anything because I was physically too upset. I completely ended it for good, and when he texted me the next day he just gave excuses like his parents and one friend wanted him to go to the lake (which he does most weekends anyways) and he didn’t know how to tell me because I would be upset anyways. No apology or anything. I’m so crushed, he knows I really did love him and I don’t know how he could do this to me. I’m so heartbroken. Any advice on how to get through this would be appreciated.
