Do you keep the room dark

Question

Mommas, do you keep the room dark at night? Like no tv or closet light on. I keep being told it needs to be dark in the room and wondering what you all do. Baby is only three weeks old

I keep a nightlight on so I can change diapers etc without changing the light levels.

At night, yes. For naps, only if he’s overtired and fussy. Btw, having a tv in the bedroom trashes everyone’s circadian rhythms, be they babies, kids, or adults. Never let the room you sleep in illuminate with light from a computer or a tv screen. If you keep a tv in your room, make sure it is off whenever the sun is down

I cant go to sleep if i dont hear the tv on ofcourse the volume is always at 2! My kids dont mind it and they’ll soon be moving out our room! Somedays i leave the room dark af and they dont mind that either! Honestly its whatever works for you!

we have always kept it dark. it helps them get used to days and nights. we have a nightlight in the halls and one in the bathroom and they aren't very bright.

Up until about 7 1/2 months, my hubby and I would leave the TV on but turn it down. Our daughter is now 14 months old, she'll lay down and watch one of her movies until she falls asleep. And then we turn off the TV, or sometimes we turn everything off and it helps her go to sleep. Honestly, she normally just covers her eyes with her blanket and falls asleep lol.

We keep it dark but I need light to help with feeding and sometimes have the TV on to help keep me awake when I’m exhausted, I just sit so she is turned away from it as much as possible. During the day we have more light and noise.

Always only kept only a nightlight for diaper changes and feedings on so there was no confusion between night Nd day. LO is 6 mos and I still keep it dark at night

Dark! My 16 month old sleeps through the night for many reasons but a couple being that the room is CONSISTENTLY dark and quiet all night. I can’t sleep like that so I put her to bed right before the sunsets and by then I am exhausted or can binge watch some Netflix on my phone in the far corner of the room with subtitles lol

I used a small salt lamp to keep me from tripping over when getting bub for night  feeds. The soft light never seemed to  cause issues and wasn't  too bright for hubby and me. At 5 weeks he only wakes at 1am and 5am to feed and goes back to sleep. He  wakes at 7a with us.

Keep it as "night time" As possible..  That's the easiest way to keep baby one a good sleep schedule and so they don't get days and nights mixed up
