Is it ok for a freshman to take algebra 1 instead of algebra 2 or geometry?

You’re supposed to start out on algebra 1, geometry, and then algebra 2. That’s how it was in my school. It’s best to start out on algebra 1 since for me algebra 2 kicked my butt. Lol

Algebra 1 is a freshman course. I was a year ahead in math so I took geometry my freshman year, but there’s nothing wrong with taking a course for freshman your freshman year

I did that in 8th grade but if you were to do it in 9th, you would be still on track.

everyone goes at their own pace. if YOU (bc this is YOUR education, not anyone else's) feel most comfortable and prepared by starting at alg 1, then so be it. 
in grades 9-12 i took alg 2/trig, then precalc, then stats and calc, then game theory. and you know what? I HATED IT. it was mostly based on my personal learning curve. i honestly wish i had requested to be placed in a lower class instead bc i barely remember any of the math and it caused a lot of stress as it takes me significantly longer to understand math concepts and much more practice to confidently utilise formulas.
