Thoughts on Karissa/Carissa?

A friend of mine is pregnant and this name is in the running for her daughter. She doesn’t seem to be getting much positive feedback from her friends and family. What do you think?

I’ve never seen it before it kinda reminds me of Clarissa. What about:
Calliope or Calista nn Callie 
Cassandra or Cassidy nn Cassie 
Just some other similar options to think about if she doesn’t end up going with her original choice.

I grew up with a few girls named Carissa so for me it’s a dated 80/90s name like Brittany, Jessica, Ashley, Amber, etc. I also thinks it’s kind of harsh sounding and reminds me of the word, caress. 🤷🏼‍♀️
