It’s been nearly a year...

Je

...since my husband and I got married and started trying. I had an ectopic in 2015, so we knew there would be risks, but we wanted to start a family immediately. I was taking all the supplements, temping, and tracking ovulation with OPKs.

February rolled around and I got a faint positive, but it ended up being a chemical. So we continued. By May, we knew we would have to visit a fertility specialist.

So on August 1st, I had the notorious HSG procedure (very painful, do not recommend) and my husband had his numbers tested. Thankfully, everything came back normal for me, but my husband’s numbers were just a little low.

We decided he would make some lifestyle changes and go back to be retested in a month. We didn’t really actively TTC this month, but I randomly took an opk before going to bed one night and it was a blazing positive! So I thought... why not??

The following Thursday, I was surprising my husband with a cabin weekend in the mountains for his birthday. I was 9DPO and, even though I knew that was early, I decided to take a test just to see what would happen.

I actually ended up taking three tests because all of them (even the internet cheapies) looked like this one. We were leaving for the weekend, though, and I didn’t want to get my hopes up, so I didn’t tell anyone and off we went.

Saturday rolled around, and I naturally couldn’t take it, anymore. We were just laying down taking to each other and I told my husband about the faint positives. That’s almost exactly what it looked like with our chemical back in February, though, so he was even more cautious than I. So I sent him to the store to buy some FRERs, lol.

I fully expected to have a squinter that afternoon. It had only been two days since the first tests I took, and I wasn’t going to be using FMU. So I sat patiently waiting for a solid five minutes before picking up the test.

Guys. It wasn’t a squinter.

It was a full-blown BFP!!!

After all this time, and after being told that my husband’s numbers were low, we conceived without even really “trying” to!!

We are being very cautiously optimistic since an ectopic is still not out of the realm of possibility. I’ve already had two HCG blood tests this week. The first (at 3 weeks+6 days) was 122.5, and the second (at 4 weeks+1 day) was 358.7. The number nearly tripled in only 49 hours!! My doctor seems very happy with the progression so far, and I am scheduled for one more blood test next week. If that goes well, my first ultrasound is scheduled for September 11th and hopefully we will see our little miracle baby right where it’s supposed to be in my uterus!

I will keep you guys updated if you’re interested. For the time being, though, it looks like I’m finally going to be a mom!!
